Calling @SamG and co.!
Anyone been, or heard of anyone who’s been, to the
“new” Hilton since the property roundabouts started?!
I currently have a room reserved at a decent price for
July (decent considering how haywire they’ve gone).
Also interested in the Conrad that’s taking over the Regent: it
says “fully” open by late ’23 (restaurants are opening now), but I
wondered if they’ll have some accomm. before then/soft opening?
Just as a “note to self”, the new Conrad bookings are now
as from 2024.
We provisionally have bookings at the Hilton Orchard – now the largest in Asia! Many of the
pics still seem a bit CGI, so we’ll see…
Read the threads on this hotel on FT.
Thanks, BBB – sure it’ll all be a bit of a mixed bag early on, and the pool
doesn’t look amazing, but for a short city trip just to see old friends & colleagues, it would be
pretty handy.
Having said that, I do like the look of the Indigo Katong for something small & cute!
Stayed at the Hilton Orchard last May. Only 50000 points at the time so with 5 for 4 seemed great value. As diamond only received a small upgrade on the room. Executive lounge offered a good range of food with the usual wine, beer and spirits. The highlight was breakfast with with a huge range of buffet / cook stations showcasing every cuisine from Indian, Japanese to European.
Layout seemed a little odd as part of a shopping centre, the pool area is only small compared to the size of the hotel.
With the great breakfast and executive lounge offering we definitely had great value for the amount of points spent.

The Indigo has good reviews. But if it’s a short trip and you’d like to try something different, Vagabond, Duxton Reserve, Serangoon House are options.

I’ve done a couple of stays at the Indigo Katong in recent weeks. I rather like it. The rooms are quirky but comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast is a highlight (especially if you get it free from status). I’m a little ambivalent about the location though – there’s not really a huge amount within walking distance (the beach/park, a couple of hawker centres, and a few streets of ‘heritage’ shops and cafes that soon wear a bit thin) so you’ll probably go into town anyway, in which case might as well stay somewhere more central. If you just need somewhere to overnight between flights but don’t want to stay at the airport itself, the Indigo’s a pretty good choice I think (although I probably only saved 10 or 15 minutes cab ride versus being in town; might be worth noting that the Holiday Inn Express is literally next door in the same building). Not sure Katong merits a multi-night stay though, unless you need to be in that area specifically, or the price is substantially less than the more central options. But in itself, a very nice hotel, I thought.

Thanks, @Jon – pretty much summed up my own thoughts. If it was just me, I’d go straight there for a night as we don’t land till 1600h, but not sure I can convince the fam to move hotel after 1 night!

Thanks for the suggestions, will have a skeet!

Cheers, Molly – we’ve also got a good deal in principle, especially amid the general craziness of SIN prices now!
