Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help APD and flying to/from Inverness

  • 5 posts

Living between Aberdeen and Inverness I’m well aware that it is frequently cheaper to fly from Inverness. A recent piece on Air Passenger Duty (APD) not being payable from INV prompted me to look at various BA etickets over the last two years for the INV flights. Low and behold some show APD being charged as a itemised line and some not. EasyJet doesn’t give that level of detail. Has anyone tried to reclaim incorrectly charged APD? How? Where? With what degree of success?

    1. be sure you have actually been charged APD on the ex INV leg rather than just on say an ex LHR-INV leg

    2. Contact the airline concerned

Though TBH given APD has been in place for 30 years I would query that any airline is charging it on ex INV (or indeed any of the other exempt airports)

I just tried contacting BA on their 0344 493 0787 number about a day trip INV > LHR >INV where the eTicket shows 7.00 APD.
No doubts that this should be APD exempt.
After a while I was told that children to 15 are the only ones exempt. I asked him to do an internet search. As the agent was part way through Googling (he said that I couldn’t send him a link) for “UK APD Scottish Highlands” we got cut off!!! That’s 22 minutes of my life that I’m not going to get back!

INV-LHR is exempt from APD but LHR-INV is not

Get an easyJet invoice and it will show a breakdown. Request it through manage booking
