Discuss today's stories:
I have a supplementary card and have been trying since I got it on release to add it to Apple Pay.
Still no luck and I wondered if anybody had been successful?
I applied for my own card with the new increased avios offer but was declined, apparently my outgoings were too risky?!? No idea why as I didn’t put any in and put a spousal income as a homemaker. I’ve got an excellent credit rating and never been denied anywhere else. I do only get cards to maximise points earnings though and have no debt at all so maybe it something to do with that, doesn’t seem to bother Amex though.
Anyway, I’m holding out on using my BA Amex as I don’t want to trigger the companion voucher yet and want to have a card to still earn avios via Apple
Pay, hence applying for a new Barclaycard as I can’t add the supplementary card.
It’s all very frustrating that Barclaycard make things so difficult. Their app is a nightmare too.
Yes, I am a supplementary card holder for my wife’s Barclaycard Avios card and I use it with Apple Pay.
Try adding it via the App rather than through the Apple Wallet.
Also, side-note – your “credit rating” isn’t a thing – no lender ever sees the numbers the CRA’s produce for you.
bellasmummy.
for what its worth, my wife also got denied a BAPP this weekend. a homemaker using my household income on the application. As we have done dozens of times over the last 10/15 years….
i think its just more evidence of Amex etc tightening up on extending new credit lines.

For Barclaycard, I think only the main card holder can use the app, so don’t think this route will be relevant for scenario in this thread.
Thanks all. I can’t have the app as a supplementary card holder. The only option for me to verify the card once added to Apple Pay is to call Barclays, which I’ve done a few times but they couldn’t authorise and said I needed to use the app which I can’t have. They were at a lose.
I can use the card with verification codes being texted to me if I use online so that is set up but it won’t allow that option through Apple Pay.

I can’t remember what I did to get my supp card to work directly within Apple Pay, so sorry I can’t be of more help in this respect, but do you have a Curve card? This could be a workaround to be able to use the card via Apple Pay.

I don’t, but I’ll take a look. Thanks.
