Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Application form address format / declined / no credit search

  • 23 posts

I applied for the Barclaycard Avios Plus card, however had problems with the application form not being able to accept my address in the correct format (apartment number contains a ‘.’ and is longer than 8 characters, while my previous address’s street number includes a ‘-‘). In the end I completed the addresses as best I could but it ended up not really looking like either my current or previous address (although the town and post codes were obviously correct).

I got the “more time needed” message, then got a letter around five days later received a letter saying my application had been declined.

I waited two weeks or so and then checked my Experian credit record, and no credit search has been carried out recently.

I’m tempted to call up or write and appeal the decision explaining what has most likely happened, but has anyone else been in a similar position and had any joy? Thanks!

I think that’s a bit too soon. My credit search only appeared 52 days after my application.

How does your address appear in the official PAF and on the various credit agency records? You should always aim for an exact match with the official PAF.

If they can’t accurately identify you in order to complete the credit check, I’m not entirely sure how the enquiry could be recorded on your credit file. Be mindful that Barclays works with Experian, Equifax and Transunion (CallCredit) so best to check all three.
