Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Application stuck & why did I leave it this late?!

  • 2 posts

    Hi, advice please…
Not really sure why I left it this late but life seemed to get in the way..

So being new to Barclaycard & Barclays I applied on Saturday for the credit card following the order in the excellent thread (https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/10/03/100000-avios-for-barclays-premier-and-credit-card/)

But i’m stuck.. My application for the credit card was successful (i’ve had an email to confirm) and i was hoping it would arrive today but hasn’t.
Next step is to open the current account and the link says as follows:
“The quickest way to open a sole Premier Current Account is to download the Barclays app from your app store and open it to start your application. If we accept your application, you can start using your account in the app straight away.”

However I haven’t got an activation code and in order to register on the app it asks for the card itself and PIN which hasn’t yet arrived.

Any ideas gratefully received & sorry if this has been answered elsewhere?

    Keep up the good work.

You don’t need the activation code, in fact I had to deactivate the app to open the current account. If you open the Barclays App, choose new to Barclays and follow the options to open a current account.

This was the path recommended by the agent on the Barclays phone line, which all opened fine but now I have 2 customer profiles which apparently I need to go into a branch for them to merge, so hopefully I still qualify for the bonus as I can’t go into branch for a bit. Just thought I share for full transparency.

You can try to apply online and say you’re not an existing Barclays customer?

I had to get mine merged and it was a very painful procedure. At this point I’d just go for the application though as I think it’s your only hope in getting the points!
