Hi,
Having had our 2-4-1 flights to Australia cancelled in both 2021 and this year, we are now looking to travel next February. I have an FTV for another cancelled 2-4-1 flight that I am hoping to use against our 2023 Sydney flights, but with being an FTV, I cannot book on-line and still get the 2-4-1 benefit.
Having tried several times over the last week to call the USA call centre (which I used to book our 2022 seats) outside of the UK hours, it appears to be rerouting me back to the UK call centre, then cutting me off after a minute or so. Not sure if there is another number I can call other than the one from the BA website (001 800 247 9297)?
As it looks as if it will be unlikely that I will be able to speak to someone from BA at midnight on the day the seats are released, my only other option to secure the two seats would be to book both seats using the full Avios amount, but would I then be able to retrospectively apply the FTV 2-4-1 if I manage to speak with someone at BA at a later time?
Many thanks.
Unfortunately it cannot be applied later – FAQs:
I have an existing booking, can I apply my Companion Voucher to this booking?
No, you cannot. Your Companion Voucher must be applied at the time of booking.
You should call from a US number — Skype can provide you one.
Also try +1 877 767 7970 in addition to the one you’ve quoted.
I’ve had luck calling India — it seems to answer at all times. Try 30 mins before your midnight deadline to see if they are open.
I have an existing booking, can I apply my Companion Voucher to this booking?
No, you cannot. Your Companion Voucher must be applied at the time of booking.
Yes and no. You cannot retrospectively apply a voucher to a booking. You can extend a voucher to cover the return part of a booking you have made one-way using a voucher already (although, in the system, this remains technically as two bookings, and taxes/fees/charges are not recalculated on a return basis, which is severely disadvantageous on N American routes).
Thanks both for confirming re the FTV voucher – I suspected as much, but no harm in checking!!
With regard to calling the US, I have used them on a number of occasions from my landline/mobile without any problems to secure those hard to get seats on the stroke of midnight. Will give the other number noted a try later on – thanks for this.
