Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy Aspirational UK properties outside of London

I have a slug of Bonvoy points which I am keen to use for a one / two night break without the kids, but struggling to think of somewhere to use them in the UK outside of London. I accept that one persons ‘aspirational’ is another persons ‘run of the mill’, but if we work on the basis the former is somewhere where you’d choose to go for a leisure break as opposed to somewhere you need to be for work / other reasons.

Other than the Langley and the University Arms are there any others that spring to mind that aren’t in London?

    Thanks

W Edinburgh is probably the only other aspirational one outside London

The rest are just nice / okay hotels

    Glasshouse Edinburgh needs a refurb
Sheraton Grand Edinburgh has a good spa

The Reach Manchester looks good for a stay and brand new

Abbey Road in Bath isn’t bad but feel refurb was done on a budget rather than comprehensive and the Indigo nearby is better.

You mentioned the University Arms, we stay there a couple of times a year and really like it. I can give you a bit more info. on it if interested.

I note you are looking to use points but you can also book through Amex FHR to give you a comparison.

Thanks all, couple of options I hadn’t considered.

University Arms is looking like the favourite at the moment so keen to hear any tips you can share @Man of Kent. It seems there that you can book higher category rooms if you are willing to splash the points (or put cash towards the booking) which doesn’t seem to be the case with the others who are only offering base rooms, at least for the dates I am looking at.

@Grant I’ve just posted some information on the University Arms in the Marriott forum so others can add to it in the future if they wish.

If you dont mind a short flight, you could the Shelbourne in Dublin or Powerscourt, outside of Dublin!
