Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Avios 2-4-1 redemption booking on behalf of someone else

  • 11 posts

In laws would like me to help them book a long-haul redemption with their 2-4-1. My name is not on their BAEC household account and ideally they would like to pay with their own AMEX.

Is there any way I can do the booking myself without keeping them up until 1am (BST) when I call BA to book?

How is the person at the call centre going to know that you are not one of your in-laws. Assuming you have all their details to hand you can ‘act’ as one of them to make the booking.
I am not encouraging anyone to commit fraud, but if it is their 2-4-1 and they are paying and their names are on the booking, then I don’t see any issue here.

they can add you as a nominee in their BAEC account but agree with ianwardz, just wouldn’t mention it

Ianwardz has a point but you can also be setup as a Third Party Nominee on the account of the 241 holder. It’s pretty straightforward & can be done through the BA website. Go to the “manage my account” & then “manage third party nominee”. Probably worth doing anyway as it would allow you to deal with any other issues in the future. I’d also do it on both of their accounts although you should only need it for the 241 holder.

You can also input their details in each other’s “Travel Companions” section which will speed things up & reduce potential for error when dealing with a phone agent who’s first language may not be English.

Very useful advice all – thank you.

This is simple. They can add you as a third party nominee on their account via manage my account panel on the left. You can then call BA until your heart’s content to do their business. Otherwise just get their login details and do it online. You can use any amex held by anybody provided you have their consent if it is not your own.
