As above. Before Christmas I was usually able to book last minute trip to Berlin. Not this year. Anyone else noticed this?
Three reasons
Lots of pent up demand after the last two years so whatever seats were available went ages ago and people willing to pay cash.
Catching up with the re bookings from the weather issues last week
BA is restricting sales on many flights into LHR next week because of the border force strike.
Good point BA Flyer IHG Stayer. Quite possible BA has removed all award seats even if for now, they continue to sell seats for cash, on some routes.
This is.what they appeared to have done when they had decided they were going to remove First Class from so many routes. Suddenly First became impossible to book on avios, whilst the very high cash fares were still being offered for First seats.
I suppose it wouldn’t be too much to suppose, that for what they would earn on an avios seat, knowing they were going to completely remove First Class from many routes or aircraft, BA decided it didn’t want the EU261 liability they would incur to potentially have to book cancelled First Class passengers on other routings or airlines instead. To get the cash price paid to them for First Class seats, remained worth keeping on selling those seats for cash even though they already knew they were going to cancel First Class, though. But not the lesser amount for award seats
