I track my Avios balance quite carefully, to ensure that shopping points arrive, and to be alert to fraud. I usually know exactly what my balance is. A couple of days ago when I opened the new Avios app on iOS (formerly BAEC app) I was happily greeted by an animated announcement telling I had earned 10k points. Now this is obviously welcome news, but nowhere in my activity history can I find evidence of how I came to earn these. My recent transactions are a triple boost from an Amex transfer, and some debits for flight redemptions, nothing that adds to +10k. Could it be that some of my linked cards (I have 3 cards linked to my Avios account and transactions on these are presumably being monitored) has suddenly triggered a pay-out? Would this be listed in my activity history if it occurred? If it’s the case that flight bookings (Iberia redemption) or accommodation deposits (AirBnB with BAEC link) paid on linked cards are generating 10k Avios then I will happily continue spending…
If you cannot account for the additional Avios, then the first rule about BA Executive Club…
😀
@johnny Are you in a household account, and might the avios have been added to one of the other members of that account?
The useless Avios app is now showing my household balance. And I don’t know why

It’s always shown the household balance and below shows the individual transactions but only for your account.
Hmm I also have 10k extra avios, both in the app and on the BA website… Recent transactions not showing anything like that. And recently I got my balance down to 0… Hmm let’s see if it stays!
Have you complained about any onboard issues lately, or had any recorded for you by the crew? 10k is a quite usual Avios Adjustment for some service delivery cockup…
Or a BAPP spend x in x months for 10k Avios retention offer?
I have the opposite problem. BA said they’d added 10k avios to my account three weeks ago for a broken flatbed on overnight flight. Nowhere to be seen – yet.
I cannot see my own balance on the iOS app.
Not a biggie though

No complaints open.

No retention offers or spend challenges.

Oh that’s an interesting suggestion; I wasn’t aware of being in a HH account and my OH scarcely uses theirs.

10k for a broken flatbed. I wouldn’t be accepting that! “No flatbed” = PE.
I expected to be fobbed off, so was pleasantly surprised to be given 10k. Was this foolish?
I got 8k points from VS for IFE not working.
Has your balance actually gone up 10k, or is the Avios app telling you your balance has gone up? I find that sometimes that app tells what my balance has gone up since I last opened the app, which is not very often, and I already knew the balance from checking the BA app
If you are still not sure, log into the desktop site, you usually get more information on the transaction history there.

If your seat didn’t go flat, absolutely fobbed off. Of course it depends on your travel/value to BA, but my wife got 10k + a £50 bottle of wine for finding a small hair in her salad (flying F). I’d consider a “no flat bed” a major fail, and quite likely BA already knew about it.
