Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Hello.
Logged into my ba account. Was browsing flights from London to Heraklion in business for two people with a companion voucher in Sept 2023. I have noticed that system has changed. Automatically it offers 48,500 avoid + £2.00.
Surely this is not the best way of redemption. What’s the best use of avios and payment? I could hack the old redemption but this has flummoxed me. Can anyone help?
How many Avios do you want to use for your flight?
48500 Avios + £ 2.00
47000 Avios + £ 18.00
38500 Avios + £ 70.00
35500 Avios + £ 100.00
26500 Avios + £ 190.00
19500 Avios + £ 282.00
In most cases find the equivalent of £35 Euro Traveller or £50 Club Europe equivalent which is the 4th one.
Other approach assume 1p per Avios for simplicity is what I normally do. If you are particularly Avios rich you may think differently.
Using that approach the list of options prices as:
487
488
455
455
455
477
I always do the same, use 1p each for the Avios to make things simple and decide from there.
Slight advantage is that the less you pay, the less you lose when you cancel.(up to £35). A couple of times I’ve chosen the £2 option because I know I’m likely to need to rearrange, oftent he reason to choose a reward flight in the first place.
Tracey,
Exactly what l do. Had one way to Dublin booked, not sure if going, then Paddy Air came up with a 1 day sale for 12.99 around the same time of day, albeit LGW! Too tempting to ignore. Save those avios for complex fares….way to go RFS.
