Anyone know if I can get a avios if I don’t fly a flight.
I’ve got a flight that I won’t be going on and it’s non refundable so would be nice if I got something for my money!
Officially – no
If there’s lots of disruption and/or partner flights on a BA codeshare, you might sometimes get lucky….
Otherwise just hope for a timing change or a cancellation, so you can change the date / get a refund!
No
You can still claim back any proper government taxes and airport fees though.
The clue is in “non-refundable” – which is why it often makes sense to book with avios!
The clue is indeed non refundable and I don’t think the OP is after one. In fairness, particularly now with revenue based earning, really you should be awarded Avios whether you fly or not. They have the revenue after all. But sadly, that’s not the case, so you’ll go down as a no show and get nowt. As someone said, claim back taxes and fees, these can be fairly significant sometimes.
Even if non-refundable, does anyone know what the rules are on re-routing to a different destination rather than just changing dates. Can you do that by paying the standard change fee and difference in fare?
Ha – it was more about expectations of BA! I try to avoid anything inflexible these days, either use avios or if paying cash, book a BA Holiday, if the deposit is less than the amount I’d lose on a non-refundable booking.

I’ve read the original post in a different way. I think that the OP accepts that nothing will be refunded and isn’t asking for anything back, but is instead asking for the Avios that would have been earned by actually flying the flights. Perhaps OP could clarify though.

I’m totally with this and I aim to use Avios or BAH bookings, though there are cases where this isn’t always possible and even with BAH bookings, you still have to pay weeks ahead, which leaves times for circumstances to change unexpectedly.
Yes that’s exactly what I meant. Don’t expect any money back but if you’ve paid for it I think you should get the points.
It doesn’t work like that though.
And re read what I wrote about the proper taxes and fees.
