Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Historically, you could transfer Avios to an account in anybody’s name, from CoT. This is recently changed. Has anybody else been affected by this? Is there any way around it? I had a friend who was very generously sending me a lot of Avios straight to BA and it seems like the party is over.
It has changed – I got the impression from CoT that Avios may have had a word.
I complained about the change. They just accepted they’d failed to tell me, apologised and gave me £50. They said they couldn’t change back to an open transfer system as Avios had forced them to do it. The manager I spoke to made it clear that Avios/BA was aware that some CoT customers had been selling flights booked with Avios and given how many points some people have it was enough to greatly upset Avios.
