Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Avios Reward Booking not ticketed

  • 62 posts

Booked to travel MAN-LHR-ACC on the 1st Jan. Travelling in March.
Received itinerary ok but no ticket. Never had delays with ticketing before and I know they say 48-72 hours but now it is 5 days.
Is there a reason to be concerned or do I just need to be patient ?
It was a booking I needed to book over the phone due to connections not showing on line rather than one I could book on-line

Was there some issue with the taxes that meant they had to send it to the back office? I think it can take up to a week, especially if you’re not travelling imminently. Give them a call later this week if you still haven’t got the ticket.

It was a Barclays upgrade voucher – that is all I can think of

You don’t need to be concerned (yet).

    You have a PNR, yes?

Very few of the call centre staff appear able to handle upgrade voucher bookings so it may well just be your agent was unsure what to do. Did they quote the correct fees?

I believe there is still the issue though that your credit card cvv will fall off after a week so they will not be able to charge you without refreshing it. So if you get a call from BA about that then feel free to give them all your personal details and credit card information! Life is too short to call back..L

If it were me, I would give it a few more days and then on a quiet day when there is no travel disruption, give them a call and explain that you were told a few days and it has been much longer. Make sure you choose the correct option for changing a booking with an upgrade voucher.

If you get a competent agent then they will have a look at the booking and check that all is well and then resend it to ticketing.

The last time I used upgrade vouchers I called to add on the domestic led and could tell the agent was clueless. They managed to add on the legs but the ticket was not issued. Luckily (!) BA cancelled the domestic connection I had chosen. I had to call to choose a new one and asked the competent agent to see what the issue was. Other than charging me 50p per leg that should not have been charged nothing was up but the new agent changed my flights and re-sent it to ticketing and this time it was ticketed within 24 hours.

On no account should you leave it until check in as the airport will not be able to help you. So if it has not been ticketed a week before your journey, start to panic and be relentless about chasing.

Yes I have a PNR number. I will leave it for a couple more days and then follow up. Correct taxes and fees applied but payment not yet taken.

It’s likely fine, just thrown in the queue because you booked over the phone, the seat is being held for you if you can see it via PNR in MMB. It will now be delayed further due to need for more urgent changes resulting from weather disruption. If it’s not ticketed by 14/1 I’d give them a call but I’ve waited over 3 weeks sometimes.

I will hang on a while before worrying but good to get the advice of others – thanks everyone

Mine took 6 months, yes, 6 months to be ticketed. I added a return journey to a 241 for July 2025 in July 2024 and it got ticketed a few weeks ago.

I called about 10 times. There was no rush really but I was uneasy and wanted to pay off the taxes and book seats which you can’t do on an unticketed segment.

Basically, don’t worry. But what I am pretty certain about is after 7 days your credit card CCV vanishes so you’ll get an email to ask to call back and then it goes back in the queue.

This happened to me. I rang them after 4 weeks to get the ticket number and email sent.

Looks like it happened to this person as well and they missed their reward flight.

Usually the ticket email lands within the hour of booking. I doubt it’s coming now, so call them up

I booked the return on a 241 during a BAEC IT outage (which is probably the only reason I got the flights I wanted) but that failed to get ticketed automatically. The flight showed on my executive club but I could select seats etc. It took a couple of calls to get the flight charged and ticketed.

It took more confusion to get them to actually take the Avios, because they only took the cash when they ticketed the flight! Customer service couldn’t understand that I wasn’t asking for a refund. However the risk of being stranded in Japan for a non-payed ticket outweighed the 110,000 Avios saving, although it was certainly tempting to keep my mouth shut, given I had 2x Tokyo return in J tickets for just 100,000 Avios and £1100!

I’ve got an Openjaw 241 booking that I made about 10 days ago that hasn’t been ticketed yet. I’ve phoned a couple of times but nothing back as yet. I’ll try again once all the weather issues have eased
