Avis – how to get the best quote (Florida)

I am looking to do a one-way rental from MIA to ATL.

My usual provider (DiscountFloridaCar Hire) is quoting drop off fees of $400 for everyone apart from AVIS. However, AVIS quote is much higher. I think they have probably just included the drop off fee in the base rental…

What’s the best way to get an AViS quote direct? I am signed up with the Amex Plat but it seems to produce much higher prices than the discounters.

I can halve the drop off fee by swapping cars at Orlando airport, but I would rather avoid the hassle.

Have you tried hertz.co.nz or hertz.com.au with any of the CDP codes that circulate (Amex Platinum code 633306, Mastercard 795091, Visa 618583, American Airlines 217692, etc)? If its a card linked code I believe its recommended to take the card with you even if you don’t pay with it.

I’m getting 547.82 USD for a weeks hire MIA to ATL in August.

For one way Florida rental I found Avis via BA was keenly priced.

We also used Avis for our Xmas road trip and found them very professional and helpful – we had originally booked to pick up at Key West and drop off at MIA, but they let us change the drop off to MCO for no extra charge during the holiday. I am guessing the extra fees might start to arise once you take the vehicle into another state?
