I have just been awarded a lot of Avios for booking.com bookings I cancelled months ago. I never completed these stays. I assume these Avios were therefore awarded via some kind of mistake? They were pending since last year but I didn’t expect them to actually go through.
Does this seem like a mistake? Will the Avios be automatically deducted at some point, or will I get away with it and be able to keep them? Is it dishonest or against any terms to not contact BA about the mistake?
Apple just took back Avios given incorrectly for purchases back in 2019 – you are never safe!

Oh wow, thanks for the heads up! Does that mean you’d recommend the best thing to do is to leave them there but assume I may be unable to use them?
No need to do anything. Booking.com reviews those regurarly – they will be clawed back relatively soon.

Great to know, thank you!
Hotels.com made a claw back at t+90 days after my cancelled stay. Makes you wonder why they award points on cancelled stays in the first place. I guess somebody could run up a large Avios deficit if they were so inclined, especially at promotional earning rates (8-12 per £1).
