Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA agree to new flight dates

In Oct 21 I wrote that during a call to YouFirst to rearrange an old much cancelled, by BA, 241 booking to Santiago, SCL, scheduled for Oct 21, the helpful CSA suggested she could only extend the ticket to 12 months from the booking, ie.to March 22 and that I should call in Feb to cancel and rebook to October 22. I requested a copy of the call but BA said not available as not all calls are recorded but did send a transcript. The general feedback was good luck but unlikely.
On 10/12/21 BA amended the flight back from 31/3/22 to 1st April- I didn’t confirm.
I called YouFirst again on Thursday to change the booking to Oct/Nov 22 as suggested. Answered within 15 mins and very pleasant CSA got the long history on screen, read the notes and said I’d misunderstood the guidance as she could only extend to 12 months from last amendment, I.e. 17/10/22!
I again requested outbound flights later in month but was advised not BA policy and could only offer 17/10. I said I understood it may be their policy but my rights overrode that given they had cancelled the inbound flight, etc.
After further polite exchanges she confirmed, in the absence of authority, she would refer upwards and call me back to update. She duly rang Thursday evening and advised her boss didn’t have the authority and it would be referred higher still.
The next call was received Friday pm during which she confirmed BA would agree to my request, duly booked 27/10 outbound, back 18/11/22, in F.
Clearly we are delighted at the outcome as it will be our very big birthdays and, moreover, could only have been achieved owing to the considerable experience and advice so often provided on this site by Lady London and many others.
Overall, a painless civilised polite experience.
    We thank you very much.

Good on you for persevering with this. It’s extremely disheartening when you even have to fight with You First to get what you’re legally entitled to!

    Congratulations and Well Done.

Note YouFirst has come through, very glad for you.
To others : Note even someone travelling in Economy has the same rights.
