Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA AmEx 241 – Can I “add” an earlier leg?

  • 132 posts

Hi. I have used an Am Ex 241 to book Hong Kong to London in November 2025.
If a flight from London to Hong Kong becomes available in October 2025, can I call BA and add this leg to my existing booking? (Even though the “second” flight would be scheduled before the “first?)
    Thanks.

You will get different answers about this but yes, it should be possible. We have done this once with a new voucher when we needed to be back by a certain date, but weren’t sure when we could fly out. The various terms breaking concessions on voucher use don’t seem to have been tightened, so no reason to think it has changed but there are no guarantees and the first agent you get might say no.

This can be done but it will be a separate booking and won’t be merged or added to the original one.

But if it were on a second booking, you wouldn’t get the benefit of the voucher and they will only refund 50% Avios if the seats weren’t within the booking window at the time of booking the first flight which doesn’t apply here. The outbound flight needs to be added on to the same booking.

Exactly. My aim is to use the “241” voucher on both flights – and you have said that this is possible (subject to getting the right agent).
    Thank you

I suspect that you will have to pay a change fee, but don’t see why you couldn’t do it (other than getting an agent who says no or doesn’t know how to do it)

This is not really any different in process to adding the return leg to an outbound, (ignoring all the T-355 rigmarole). You will just have to pay the change fee.

And it will be all on one PNR.
