Im new to collecting points (Avios) and really struggling to understand the BA eStore. I have been focusing my spending where I can through the BA eStore, to collect points, but on most occasions the eStore has no record of my spending despite tracking and acknowledging my visit.
I have made nine purchases through the store, but in the purchase history, only three are recorded. There’s another six purchase made about 6 weeks ago that aren’t even pending. I know you sometimes have to wait 90 days – which isn’t a problem, but some purchases aren’t even pending.
I have tried the ‘claim missing avois’ form, but when I upload proof of purchases, the next button greys out and won’t allow me to move forward.
Is my experience unusual? I only started collecting about 2 months ago, but I’m reluctant to keep using the site if about 3/4 of my purchases just disappear.
Some say they get good success rates, buy my experience is similar to yours. The general advice is always to consider this as a bonus if it works but not to base any spending decisions on it.
Firstly it needs to register your visit, which is normally consistent and appears in the ‘Last visited’ list in your account immediately. Then it needs to track the spend, which (when it works) should appear overnight, accompanied by an email confirming the details.
You can be 100% certain that if something doesn’t appear in your purchase history you aren’t going to receive anything, and then of course for hotel bookings etc it also takes a ridiculous 90-120 days after the stay is complete before you’ll get anything anyway.
On the few occasions I tried to submit a claim I tended to get ‘sorry that retailer does not accept claims for missing avios’, so don’t bother any more. I find booking.com and hotels.com are pretty consistent, but they can also offer different prices via different routes so always compare the price with a direct connection as well as via any rewards or cashback site.
Just to make sure, I hope you are not using a phone for the shopping?
claiming missing avios always worked for me, are you sure you’re not missing anything? it often asks you to wait a few days.
I’ve always had reasonably good success.
Feedback from others includes:
– Don’t have any ad/popup blockers etc enabled
– Don’t navigate away from the retailers site once the link from the estore has been clicked, including not moving to another tab in the browser
– Complete the transaction in good time
– Don’t use a VPN when making the purchase
– Cross all fingers and toes and hope for the best!So far, as a relatively new user, I’ve had fairly good success using the BA portal.
I noticed today there is a new message when clicking through to the retail site stating that browser extensions should be disabled as this can cause problems. I had not seen this before. Thanks everyone, it seems it’s not as straight forward as I hoped.

Apreciate everyone’s input though!

No I was using a laptop.
It’s been around a month, but they aren’t even pending, some aren’t showing in my purchase history at all

I know this is going to sound a bit ridiculous, but if you need to buy 5 items, maybe do one a day for five days, so there is less chance of cookies going wonky etc.
I feel your frustration as I find it hit and miss as well, but if you are going to buy from a particular vendor anyway, it’s probably still worth logging on via the BAStore.
I use a separate browser for the avios estore and I accept any cookies that show up. I don’t use that browser for anything else other than purchases. I will do my research and when ready to buy it, that’s when I will fire up (Firefox on my case) and complete the purchase and close the browser. I usually have a pretty good rate of success of tracking except by M&S which seems to be a bit of hit and miss for me.
Good luck. I’m still waiting for Hilton points via eStore from a year ago. Still ‘pending’ and a monthly email saying they are still ‘investigating’. Yesterday got an email saying Hilton hasn’t confirmed my stay yet. As it was booked via Hilton.com and I have submitted reservation number, paid invoice, and screen grabs it ought to be fairly easy to do?

TBH there are recurring complaints since at least a few years that Hilton is not paying out, cashback sites the same and not just in UK.
Accor take ages but I have personally never known them not pay out a correct claim. IHG not bad but you’d be collecting abroad for that. Hilton… over here and over there keep hearing they’re just not paying out.
