I have a couple of questions….

If you have already bought a ticket with money and want to change the date and it costs more, can you pay the extra using Avios points?

If you have already bought an economy ticket with money and want to upgrade to the next class, can this be done with points?

2 – don’t forget there has no be availability in CE or PE to do this.

And on 2., you’ve done this the right way – book with cash first and upgrade with avios later. If you want to do this again in tbe future then do it the same way, do not use the book and upgrade option. It’s a long story and there is an HfP artcle on it if you want to search.
