We flew on the 20th Feb to IST.
Our 1 piece of oversized luggage never arrived,
I had foolishly ripped the bag tags off the cases that I did have, so when I went to get PIR I couldn’t say which number was missing.
Making the PIR the person making it couldn’t understand my English either, so my pir went as my ticket number and bag not known.
This is where the fun starts, whilst in Istanbul they delivered me 5 bags to the hotel, none of which were mine, I had to carry these all back to UK with my luggage and gave to BA by reclaim belts and paid excess baggage.
Once we reached home we had cards from parcel force with 5 tracking numbers and parcels left with a neighbour, this turned out to be another 5 bags,
2 I have reunited with owners with contact details on the bag, courier collection at their own cost as they couldn’t get sense at BA.
I have called BA many times, no one takes responsibility, it’s baggage handling not there job.
The number I’ve been given is charged at 71p pm (08448243115) which I’m not calling.
Anyone know of a number to call ?
All the bags still have there tags with names and flight numbers so not sure why I got them.
Doesn’t give me much confidence in the baggage system and my bag is still missing, however my pir says bag delivered as they have sent me some, can’t get anyone to change my pir to not received either so can’t make insurance claim.
Let me get this straight. You went to the airport and paid to check-in bags that were not yours and you had not packed yourself on your flight?
While I am sorry you cannot find your luggage and commend your efforts to manage to get the luggage to the rightful owner, I hope you realize the extreme danger you put yourself and everybody in your flight when you went ahead and checked-in bags that did not belong to you!
They usually ask you at check in if you’ve packed the bags yourself!
I assume there is a baggage handling company at IST which is responsible for these things, which might make it fairly complicated to follow this up. I personally would send a message to Parcel Force to the effect that what they have delivered is not your property and you are not responsible for it.
If you’re still missing your oversize bag you might need to claim on your insurance for this as it sounds as though the tracking system is utterly chaotic!
So you went to the airport, didn’t bother to ask the agent what to do, paid for 5 excess bags that didn’t belong to you and lied about packing them yourself?
You quite properly could be in serious trouble. When I was flying, if it came to my attention I would have spoken to security on the sat phone and almost certainly diverted the aircraft to the nearest airport.
