Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA business class flight booked using companion voucher to Bangkok

If I book a business class flight to Bangkok using the Amex 2-4-1 voucher , if the flight is cancelled , would I have the option to get rebooked onto QR indirect for no extra cost subject to availability? Or will this not be offered as using a 2-4-1 voucher … as if cancelled the Q suite will be much better to travelling in even if indirect

I believe so if it’s cancelled by BA. Happened to me a few weeks ago. My BA flight on 2-4-1 cancelled and I got rebooked on to Iberia, no questions asked – I had to call, as the online options only offered BA flights.

If BA cancels the flight you are absolutely entitled to re-routing BUT BA may offer you a reasonable alternative, you don’t have the automatic right to fly with QR. Also, you may get a CSA who tries to refuse you your UK261 rights (it’s still happening!) so you may need to fight for it.

Last time they cancelled flights they had an option for Finnair via Stockholm for example, but otherwise Qatar has been a long standing rebooking option and no problem if you used Avios. However Bangkok is possibly one of their worst routes for aircraft swaps and their 2-2-2 configuration A330s are not an unfamiliar sight ! But London should be safer for Q suite.

I suspect BA Bangkok will run this winter, I know lots of people keen for an Asia holiday after a couple of years off and the region is opening up rapidly
