Had a quick look, and for the USA it’s only up to end of April. No significant savings from what I can see.
Prices are the same now as they were 2 days ago, just with a red SALE flash across the rate. Very underwhelming.
I may be going to New York around Xmas time and looks like there is plenty of availability for “sale fares” of ~£2,500 return in CW.
Is this a decent price these days for a direct flight to NYC on BA metal in CW? I honestly don’t have a clue as most of my travel is short-haul economy.
It seems to be the going rate for direct flights in December based on google flights info.
There are ex EU flights on BA in CE/CW from eg Stockholm for between £1600-1700 , so might be worth considering if you want some extra TPS and a cheaper fare, even accounting for positioning flights.
If you’re going for 5 days or more, going from London you could look at making it a BA holidays booking with a hotel or car, and get the double TPs offer.

Thanks, yeah that’s the impression I got. Yes, may well look to make a BA holidays booking, double TPs seems like a good offer, and should be able to reach Silver shortly afterwards if we did that. If I was going alone I’d very happily to ex-EU but my family and in-laws wouldn’t entertain it unfortunately!
On the double TPs, would AA flights, but booked via BA, and with a listed BA flight number, count for this?
thanks

As long as it’s got a BA code share it qualifies

I guess it’s the new world of airfares. My only reference is December 2021 where we paid 1400 quid each. Jet Blue is more like £1700 next year, so I guess it’s the BA ‘premium’ plus booking too close to Christmas.
Best bet would be if you can find a good price on a hotel via BA Hols to offset the terrible fares.
This new sale actually helped me out. I needed to book a LHR-MAN return with luggage, and I found some sale business seats that seem genuinely reduced to only £25 more than economy with luggage. Worth it for the empty middle seat, food/drink and handful of extra avios.
