Urgent help please:
There was discussion that you could use other person’s Amex CC to pay for companion voucher seats, such as family or friends. But it seems not the case today when I tried to booked my seats by companion voucher. The two agents have both told me that I have to use the Amex CC exactly under my name, which I could not as Amex cancelled my CC.
Has anyone had any experience of using other persons’ Amex CC to pay for campanion voucher recently? If successfully, can you please help to share ?
I will lose my seats today if I can’t sort it out.
Much appreciated.
yes I know, but BA agents do check the name of payment Amex CC. They asked name on the Amex CC and will reject if you gave them the different name. Tired twice with different agents.
Please share if you have had same experience. Thanks.
If as Grant says Amex don’t do name verification , then just use that other persons Amex and when they ask what name on the card say yours, its not going to be verified , so how will they know? The card numbers will be valid.
As above. I was booking a 241 via YouFirst with my OH’s voucher and accidentally gave my name when they asked for card details. The CSA started squawking about it having to be my OH’s card to pay so I told them I was getting his card and gave them my card details anyway. No problems!
But more to the point, how have you managed to get through to BA so quickly, and twice in one day?!

Just tell the agent what they want to hear
I tried giving them card details, and used my name but still got rejected.
Did they specifically say the name didn’t match the one of the card?
I was able to use my wife’s card which is registered to a different address to pay for a redemption. So Amex are clearly lax on both and address verification.

You must have a separate issue, given wrong card address or maxed out card. As others have said, any Amex, your name, the correct address linked to the card, works every time.
I am a person who has used AMEX cards in different people’s name at different addresses. Sometimes BA says oh the card didn’t go through. I ask them to put it through again and it goes through. I have no idea what they are doing wrong. The agents have told me name is wrong; address is wrong — but I know that it is not checked by AMEX (and is not the real reason) so I just repeat the number and the charge goes through.
