Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help BA cancellation just received

  • 11 posts

I have just been informed that my connecting flight from Heathrow up to Newcastle has been cancelled on July 1st. Originally the flight was 09.20, they have put me on the next available at 13.30 (long time to hang about in Heathrow) Am I entitled to compensation as I will arrive more than 4hrs later or am I entitled to nothing because they have put me on the next flight?

Compo based on your whole journey (assuming on one ticket). What is your ticket starting point for the journey back to NCL?

Compo looks currently excluded as they have informed you more than 14 days before though… but there’s a lot can still happen of course, to the flight. But any compo based on the whole journey distance not just that flight if on one ticket

PS you could ask for new later dates for your booking overall now, technically.

And I’d keep receipts for breakfast and lunch and claim them due to the extra wait under ‘duty of care’

No compo at all as more then 14 days notice has been given.

Have you checked to see if there is another flight between your original and than the rebooked one?

I’ve got a cancellation last night and for some reason they skipped putting me on the next flight and shifted me on one 6 hours later!

If you have BA lounge access then that will cover the duty of care element.

Am trying to get in touch with BA now so see if I can either change my Boston to Heathrow until later, so connection is not so long or to see if there is an earlier Newcastle to Heathrow. This is the 4th flight change I have had since booking this flipping holiday.

Check the alternatives before you call

Much quicker for you and the agent if you can say ‘can you rebook me on the XXX’ than it is for them to offer you alternatives.

You are entitled to exactly zero compensation but you are entitled to a full refund or a rerouting.
