I’ve used BA (cant remember which link) a few times as its clear that it includes everything. Usually gone with Avis as they include the extra driver, even though it costs a bit more than Budget. However I have discovered that some US states (eg California) seem to allow a free extra driver if they are your spouse anyway. Last time we hired we got a pop-up message about this as well at booking, so I’d be interested if this also applies to Budget rentals.
A couple of caveats – always check your credit card statement for extras when you get back. We have had a fuel charge, despite getting confirmation that it had been returned full. Luckily we took a photo of the fuel gauge when we returned it so rang Avis and got it refunded.
We have also been charged “unemployment insurance” whatever that is – got that refunded as well.
BA shows some of the Avis fleet as being able to take 3 hold cases, but Avis fleet card says none of their cars take 3 cases. Spent 2 hours waiting to get a bigger car last time as everything didnt fit in the 1st one offered.
