@JDB see there you go again not reading what is written.
This is the third time I’ve very clearly said this is about BA’s own rules for OW elites not OW’s minimum requirements at each level.
I’m not sure what lite fares have to do with your argument because again the rule is exactly the same for all FF programmes it’s not just BA elites that can’t book a seat.
I called out the very same Lounge rules already and it’s still not discriminatory vs a single airline. All OW airline passengers flying out of Doha in actual J or actual F can use the proper business and first lounges … the elites can use the respective status lounges … there is no discrimination against a single airline or FF programmes elites.
@TGLoyalty – there wouldn’t be any breach of oneworld policy as the free pre-reservation of seating is only : “in accordance with the individual policy of the oneworld airline operating the flight”.
That applies to Emerald and Sapphire as well as Ruby. BA can do as it wishes with seating for RJ status passengers.
Clearly they can decided if it’s OW Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald that get a benefit they can’t just cut off one members FF’s! All Ruby get the same as Bronze, Sapphire same as Silver and Emerald same as Gold. Stop trying to make out that it’s going to be any different just for RJ members.
Hence why I said not cracking down on RJ members.
Your two posts suggests you have fundamentally misunderstood how some OW benefits (including, but not limited to, free pre-reserved seating) are specific to certain airline policies and/or at their discretion. I’m not going to bother spelling it out as you can find this on the OW website if you were interested.
You will also discover this if you are rerouted on certain OW airlines and/or if you buy ‘lite’ fares that trump any status. Lounge access has similar limitations.
Where does it say anything of the kind? It’s talking about BA’s own application of OW benefits and treatment of OW elites. It’s how they have chosen to act.
This is now the third time someone I’ve said give me one example where BA treat OW elites at different levels differently from others. Ie QR Sapphire from a RJ sapphire. Just one. Otherwise stop suggesting it’s a thing.
BA also doesn’t sell business “lite” fares and for HBO the only exclusion is luggage.
@TGLoyalty – I just love these repeated pharisaic posts!
None of my posts have said anything but the same thing re how BA treats OW elites and AJA has clearly read them correctly and pointed out exactly the same thing. Yet you’ve continually made out I’ve misunderstood something yet it’s my posts which are pharisaic … how ironic.
, the system or a human spotted that you had booked seats without either paying or having the relevant status
Hanlon’s razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
BA’s illogical and customer-hostile treatment of pre-selected seats during inconsequential pre-flight changes has been widely reported. It’s just bad IT, bad process. I would wager a purple drinking voucher that it is nothing to do with having or not having status with an alliance partner that has a generous status match offer running.
Can someone please explain a working method for using the RJ number for seat selection but retaining avios/TP collection?
I’ve got a Silver Jay status match, I changed the FF number through RAM MMB well in advance of a return flight I took last week. This enabled free seat selection for both outbound and return legs of the flight at t-7 days. My understanding was that to retain avios/TP I have to re-enter my BAEC FF number before boarding. This is what happened to me in order:
RJ Number changed on existing booking
Seat selected t-7 days for outbound flight
Seat selected t-7 days for return flight
Check in for outbound flight
Provided a boarding pass for previously reserved seat and Group 3 boarding
Changed FFN back to BAEC using RAM site
New boarding pass provided for same reserved seat but now with BAEC FFN and Group 6 boarding
Check in for return flight
Boarding pass provided did not show previously reserved seat
My question is, how do I ensure I keep my return leg seat if I have to change back to BAEC FFN before boarding the outbound flight (and therefore before checking in for the return flight)?
Need to change FF number and then change again, so same procedure as the outbound!
@ajt91 – it is actually possible to have two FF numbers in your booking – one for its benefits (in your case RJ) and the other for miles/TP accrual. Seemingly difficult to find someone at BA who knows how to do it although it’s a fairly basic function.
