I was a BA bronze member and had expected that initially to continue until 31st of March 2026 following the soft landing changes earlier this year. however i’ve just received an email today welcoming (downgrading) me to blue. it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but certainly annoying. has this happened to anyone else?

The soft landing means Gold becomes silver, silver goes to bronze and bronze becomes blue.

If you didn’t earn enough TPs (old method)from March 2024 to April 2025 then your bronze status would logically become blue at its previous expiry date.

Or even April 2024 – March 2025, but we know what you meant. End of May expiry implies previous old format year end on April 8th (2024) and soft landing last year.

@ AndrewT @yonasl ok thanks that clears that up. I didn’t reach the amount for the last year but it was showing as bronze expiry march 2026 so thought i would get to keep it for another year.

I’m now Blue 🙁 I also no longer give a flying care. Instead we’ve taken AMEX Plat – not cheap but includes travel and car hire insurance, as well as lounge access. Better to pay upfront than chase status with a high price tag.

Simply rewarding £££ isn’t loyalty in my book.

Very sensible! The benefits of gold appear to be more social or bragging ones rather than anything too concrete. Until BA ups the benefits post clear out.

Blue = cool. Gold = Trump’s favourite colour.
