I am taking my first flight since the before times next month -Club Europe from Manchester Terminal 3, then transfering to Club World at Heathrow.
I am getting very mixed information about what facilities are currently up and running, and hearing on the grapevine that the information that they are giving out on Social Media isn’t 100% correct when people ask about things like lounge access, airport facilities and the like
Has anyone got recent actual experience, and not just repeating the very mixed messages? Just planning the final details of my trip now (like, getting to airports, working out what extras I need to book, that kind of thing)
Do you mean at MAN? You should have access to the Escape Lounge in T3 which isn’t too bad and obviously better than no lounge at all! I’ve been through MAN 3 times this year at peak times and found security queues fine mid to late morning, though there have been terrible reports for earlier in the day. Yesterday our LHR-MAN flight was delayed by about an hour and we waited about 90 minutes for our luggage on arrival but I’ve heard of considerably longer waits recently and luggage not arriving at all! Manchester Airport manager has said on social media that travel this summer is not going to get any better so expect long queues for everything and leave yourself plenty of time.
Arriving at LHR yesterday morning there were all of 2 immigration staff on duty in T5, no e-gates, queue for security started straight after immigration and was being “managed” by groups of pax being corralled into cordoned off sections and shouted at by surly staff! I imagine this is only going to get worse as the schools break up for the summer …
Prices for airport hotels and parking are outrageous at the moment.
As NorthernLass says, T3 Escape lounge is fine. It will be busy with other travellers and you might get the odd comment from others in the queue – especially if they’re rejected on Priority Pass but you’re in because of BA status or ticket. They will always, unless they’ve hit their capacity, let a BA passenger in if you have status or CE ticket.
Food and drink selection is average. BA bit is toward the back near the big windows overlooking the bar in T3. If it’s quieter, though, good tarmac views from the windows on the edge.
I didn’t see a specific BA area – was that the “reserved” tables next to the interior windows?!
Indeed, the receptionist told us that like to keep that area for BA clients.
A very pleasant experience for us simple northern folk.
I’ll remember that! Indeed, especially the sparkling wine on draught, I have never seen such a marvel before …
