Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA code share Vueling – lounge access? Tier Points?

  • 30 posts

Contemplating a last minute to Malaga – out would be via Vueling back BA ( Iberia Express substitute plane). Both Flights have a BA code, and booked through BA site for 5 nights. so double Tier points if Vueling counts for this.. I am BA Silver – this if the Tier points apply would get me to Gold. Any advice welcomed.

If the Vueling operated flight doesn’t have a VY flight number and is not available on vueling.com, you’ll get TPs. Otherwise you won’t get any TPs because Vueling is not a OW airline.

If Vueling are the operator of your outbound, you will not get lounge access. You could feign ignorance at the BA lounge (as it’s a BA flight number) but your chances of success are very low.

Coming back you’ll be fine as BA are the operator (even though it’s not their plane).

You would get Vueling access at Gatwick on a BA code if you are Gold (no guests) but not Silver. You’ll earn tier points as you would on any codeshare flight if you are on the BA code but I am not sure about double !

Vueling doesn’t appear on the Calculator for TPs https://www.britishairways.com/travel/flight-calculator/public/en_gb

Many thanks for all the advice – what a muddle the code share causes with Lounge access, tier points etc

I’m almost certain for the purposes of using the calculator a codeshare flight counts as “British Airways”

DP. Vueling flight, lounge access at LGW is for golds with no guesting. Lounge access at Seville SVQ is for perms only.

Check in is 24 hrs beforehand, but oddly we could check in for the return flight the same time as the outbound.
