Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA companion voucher – two one way tickets?

I know you can use it for 2 seats on a return flight. (4 legs for the price of 2 legs)

Or for half-price Avios for 1 seat on a return flight (2 legs for the price of 1 leg)

But can you also use it for half price Avios for 2 seats on a one way flight? (2 legs for the price of 1 leg)

Stupidly answered my own question. Of course you can it’s just not as good value as booking 2 seats on a return.

So my next questions, assuming you have bought 2 seats on a return using a voucher:

    1. When upgrading the return leg only for just one seat, do you need to pay the £35 fee?
    2. Can you change the date of just one seat not both for the return leg for the £35 fee?
    3. When changing date can you change to any identical flight with RFS availability?

Have you not answered your own question? You can use it for two people as a one way but that would be wasting half the voucher as it could also be used for the return?

Yes I did answer my own question. The single person usage also seems to be a waste as you’re only getting the discount on 2 legs not 4.

But do you know the answers to any of my other questions?

What do you mean by upgrading one seat? Both people have to travel in the same cabin.

In that case it’s not possible.

But do they have to travel on the same flight/date?

Single person 1/2 price on 2 legs is the same as 2 people half price on 4 legs, it’s not exactly a waste.

Single person 1/2 price on 2 legs is exactly the same as 2 people half price on 4 legs, how is it a waste?

How is that “exactly the same” or am I miscalculating?

    1 person 2 legs: 60k + £150 without voucher, 30k + £150 with voucher
    Saving 30k

    2 people 4 legs total: 120k + £300 without voucher, 60k + £300 with voucher
    Saving 60k

Depends on how you interpret “saving”, the savings per person is excatly the same.
    Without voucher: 60k + £150 per person
    With voucher:
    option 1, 30k + £150 per person
    option 2, 30k + £150 per person

    Some people always travel solo.

The only logically consistent way to view it is the value of the voucher.

And it most certainly is a waste not to make the most from any benefit.

Yes the savings per person is the same but the total savings is twice as much. I do 90% of my travel solo which is why I’m keen to maximise the value from the voucher when I can.
