Booked a holiday with BA to BCN, we were given a free upgrade to club Europe due to previous customer service issues, ticket has been changed to U class and reissued , club Europe is showing on MMB
If we arrive at the airport and are downgraded at check in , are we Entitled to comp . Flight in club Europe is full have a feeling we might be on the downgrade list
If they offer an alternative flight same day in club , again would be be entitled to comp
Compensation for what? For an upgrade you didn’t pay for? I don’t think so. I would expect to get (or ask for) a new upgrade voucher (or whatever you had from BA for the previous incident)
For rebooking yes (denied boarding in your case), but depending on the final delay.
If you were downgraded but ask for a later flight to remain in club and they rebook you then no compensation would be due. You couldn’t claim delay compensation either as you made a voluntary change to the later flight.
To get comepensation for a downgrade you actually have to fly in the downgraded cabin.
But in your case it would be very little – 30% of the sector cost of your ticket and since you didn’t pay for club 30% of 0 is 0.
How do you know the flight is full? If all seats are taken on the seat map, it doesn’t mean it’s full. Plus – movable curtain. If there are no tickets for sale in either cabin, it may be full, and they are hoping some people don’t show up (happens a lot). But full doesn’t necessarily mean more seats sold than are available.
