Forums Payment cards American Express BA email “Get 90,000 Avios for referring your friends”

Not sure if this is better under BA or Amex….

Last week I got an email from British Airways (not Amex) with the above header and text below:

“Refer a friend for a Card and you’ll get 9,000 Avios once they’re approved. You can invite as many friends as you like to collect up to 90,000 Avios a year this way, so don’t be shy.

Until 8 October 2024, your friends will get 60,000 Avios* if they spend £6,000 in their first three months when they use your referral link to take out a Premium Plus Card. (*New Cardmembers only).

All you need to do is login to get your link then provide it to your friend – which they must use to apply – and you could both be a little closer to a big holiday. ”

However, when I click on the “get your referral link now” button, it takes me to https://shopping.ba.com/collect/britishairways-americanexpress, but as far as I can see, there’s no sign of any link. (edited to add: actually the page it takes me doesn’t look quite like that, presumably because I have to log in to get there….)

Anyone got something similar and been able to make it work?

You can’t refer someone to the 60k offer.

My best guess is some cleaver cloggs in marketing had neglected to remove that part for the normal AMEX referable offers.

Yes, you can refer someone to the 60k – and it’s clearly on the page the OP links.

Well, that’s very odd. When logged in, that link takes me to a page with a toy LandRover and some pasta at the top, some guff about Companion Vouchers and some “Top tips for collecting even more Avios”. No referral link, either for me or my husband (both with BAPPs at present). Could it be something to do with cookies or something techie or do you think we’ve just been blanked by BA/Amex, despite the email?
