Hi,
New to using the Estore, as per my title.
I’ve noticed that on nearly all the stores, there is a clause:
“Using voucher or offer codes when you make a transaction could result in you not collecting Avios or collecting less Avios than the advertised rate. This includes staff discount, student discounts and vouchers which automatically populate in your basket at checkout.”
As a bluelight card holder I tend to get small discounts at various places. I’m hesitant to use this if it invalidates my earning potential for that transaction.
Side question, through the store, lets say for Travelodge, it says 1 Avios / 1£. Is that ontop of using your BA Amex Card? I could go directly to Travelodge’s website and book using my Amex and get the same points, failing to see the benefits.
Thanks
All points are on top of the regular credit card ones. So if travelodge is 1 avios per pound, you would get that back as a direct transaction thru ba shopping and the usual credit card avios.
Vouchers it all depends. I normally try my luck as the voucher is worth more than the cashback. Sometimes it pays normal, sometimes it’s lower and other times it does decline. If the voucher is greater than the avios, its a no brained to give it a try but not count on it
I try it if I value the discount higher than the Avios – I just see the Avios as a bonus. If it’s a lot of Avios that I’d rather guarantee, it’s not worth trying. It does work sometimes, but not others.

Yes, that’ll pretty much invalidate the Avios you earn. It’s the same on other cashback providing websites, as things like student discount codes or gift card vouchers simply invalidate any Avios/cashback you can earn from the websites.
I don’t use the BA eStore as much, but generally you can only use the discount codes that are provided on the webpage prior to clicking the link.
