Just a data point.
My son was offloaded from a flight to GVA on 30th March when a door failed. BA took 8 off in total doing so at the point of boarding.
He was rebooked on a later flight that resulted in a slam dunk U.K. 261 claim
He missed his bus to a French ski resort and was told by BA to book a hotel up to £200 and claim all meals and taxis for the night stop.
On arrival in GVA and having talked to me it was agreed he’d get an Uber at a cost of £393!
We claimed this judging the costs of a night stop plus the comp would cover the charge and Amex insurance would cover up to £300.
After 8 weeks the claim went to CEDR but on Saturday BA responded covering the full cost of the Uber, providing the £220 comp and 10,000 Avios.
Many people told us we had no chance but two things to bear in mind.
1. There is no limit on duty of care.
2. He behaved reasonably in the circumstances and while the Uber was exorbitant a night stop meals and taxis would not have been far off the total.
Just FYI in case you are wondering what you can and cannot claim.
