There are a lot of eVouchers being offered for sale.
The terms (at https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/evouchers ) state “not for resale”.
Are they, in practice, transferable?
Given the manual email-in-and-request-a-credit process for BA Holidays bookings, can bought/transferred they be used against a BA Holiday?
I recently used a friend’s one that they did not plan on using.
For flights … not a problem.
For a BA Holiday … I’d look for a data point first because they are manually processed and the name of the original holder is likely to show up to the agent.
They are not allowed to be re-sold, that would breach T&Cs.
They are absolutely fine to be used on any BA cash flight booking for any traveller(s) — a connection to the original booker is not required.
If BA find out they have been resold expect loss of voucher and closure of donor BAEC account. There is nothing in the voucher that prevents (morally or practically) any voucher holder from booking for anyone else, nor just passing on the voucher details to a friend and saying “use that”.
Remember to use these vouchers you need 3 pieces of info – surname and email address of the holder and the voucher number.
So I hope anyone buying remembers to ask for / gets that information.
When you use an e-voucher online for flights they are verified using that info before being applied because I’ve made typos when using my own and it’s been highlighted on the booking screen that there’s an error.
Not sure about using them on BA holidays as that is a manual process but the website says that for using vouchers generated from BA holidays that at least one of the passengers on the new booking must have been on the original one.
Personally I’d avoid buying any vouchers being offered by someone I don’t know.
Thanks (all) for these.
One more thing:
If one pays with a bought/donated voucher, and then subsequently cancels or has refunded one’s flight (for example if BA reschedule and one opts to give up rather than try to work with it) – is the original voucher-owning party given a voucher, or does one receive a voucher in one’s own name?
I might be mistaken but believe the voucher goes back to the original holder
Also note that buying vouchers like this on eBay are exempt from eBay and PayPals money back guarantee (there will be no mention of this guarantee on the listing unlike buying a computer as an example)
