Late Sunday night when looking at manage my booking noticed flight on Monday was cancelled to BCN from LhR , as BA holiday no option to change online , had to call. Couldn’t get through on any number tried for ages , manage to get through to the BA holidays duty office by email , by that time the only option was to take the last flight out at around 1800 same day (flight was previously 11) as on a short break didn’t fancy that so asked for a refund , they then offered a flight with VY from LGW at 09.40 to save us cancelling we accepted. A bit of a pain as flying back into LhR and we had car parking booked at LhR , manage to get This cancelled foc, however had to get taxi in the morning to LGW as trains cancelled due to the storm.
BA didn’t re-issue the ticket until the early hours so couldn’t check in until at the airport so didn’t sit together.
On MMB it showed that we wouldn’t get any avois points for the VY flight which seems unfair as we did book BA initially
Are we due any kind of comp at all , also can we claim for the avois points (whilst small) for LGW – BCN flight with VY (as we were originally booked on BA )

Whilst waiting to board at LGW could see that BA had 3 flights which had availability which could of been given to us

BA owes you standard duty of care payments (hotel, meals etc you incurred) but will try to blame the weather to avoid paying you more, I think.

Avios – yes, BA’s policy is that if you are rerouted away from BA, you can claim the Avios and tier points that your original flight would have earned.
