Does anyone know how earning TPs will work for a future booking straddling 2026 31/3 TP year end. eg outbound 1 March return 1 May, total cost before taxes etc £2000 ?
a) TP’s posted after return flight b) split 50/50 c) Other?
Thanks
TPs typically post soon after the flight where they were accrued, and in any case will be allocated to the membership year of the actual flight date. Though not sure how a holiday booking would be treated under the new system.
BA know the internal pricing of both legs so will calculate based on that.
It’s how avios are currently awarded.
Will report back, I have a ticket booked for 31/3 via Doha, where the first flight departs on 31/3 and the second flight departs Doha on 1/4. I need the first flight as my 4th flight to retain Silver on 31/3, so I’m hoping that it posts correctly.
The real question is, if you take off on 31 March and land on 1 April which year does the flight post into? UK times presumably the relevant ones. It could make a vital difference to someone! And I could of course look it up…
I guess it could be relevant to @Tracey depending on the facts. Seems a little careless leaving this to chance. But if lands 31/3 will be fine.
Under the soon to be old system points posted based on the scheduled time and date of the flight of the country of departure.
So a 10pm departure from SFO on a Tuesday would post based on it being the Tuesday evening even though it would be 6am Wednesday in the UK.
Even if the flight was delayed and took off ar 1am on the Wednesday it’s the scheduled departure that matters.
This has been how it has worked for years and people taking off on the 8th of the month yet arriving on the 9th their points were posted / credited based on the 8th.
Reporting back. My flight that departed on 31/3 and landed on 1/4 has been credited as has the second flight on the same ticket that departed 1/4.
I can see that the tier points for the second flight are shown credited to the year starting 1/4/25. The tier points for the first flight do not, so I assume that they credited to the year ending 31/3/25. Both flights shows as a tier point calculation in new money ie 2200 tier points rather than the 80 or 120 in old money.
The only thing that is wrong is that it shows my silver card expiry as 30/6/25 ie that date doesn’t acknowledge that the first flight requalified me as silver so should show an updated expiry of 30/4/26.

That’s the problem with end of collection year flights, you may have to work hard to sort that out.
It gets added to your lifetime total, but because it wasn’t added to the previous years total before the year closed the system doesn’t retrospectively recognise that it would have made a difference to your status.

I have a couple of months, I’m going to leave it a week or two to see if it settles.
I’m sure someone will be along to correct me, but I’m sure someone said BA would backdate TPs for 2 weeks after the year end. I only remember as I had the same issue with LHR-SFO in F, as both my wife and 14yo son earned Silver and I didn’t. Very sobering when your 14yo son has to guest you into the lounge 😁
Generally they will, or certainly have done previously. However that is unrelated to something which has already posted in the correct year but not been counted properly.
