Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help BA flt delay compensation

  • 4 posts

Hello, I was on a BA flight from LHR to GRU that due to engine problems had to be delayed overnight, eventually arriving into GRU 24 hours and 3 minutes late (05.48 the day after it should have arrived at 05.45).
BA paid for hotel/food, and duing the night delayed I got an e-mail saying flight would leave next day at 21h. No other options were offered (not this was an “extra flight” that day, the planned GRU departure from that day also left, but at 22h).

I claimed for flight delay compensation expecting to received €600 as the flight distance was well over 3500km and delay clearly greater than 4 hours. I received a reply saying my claim was successful and the amount was €300 per passenger. So somehow they have applied a 50% reduction to it.

I have contacted BA again asking for an explanation, but surely this is an error? I can’t see any reason to reduce it when all they could do was get me there 24 hours late?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I’m wondering if they just got the two flights confused so yes contact them again making it clear that your flight was delayed by 24 hours plus

If the usual flight that day was also delayed but by a shorter time period that would explain the half payment.
