Just got an email saying the above will be happening automatically. I believe so far they were only refunding RFS FTVs?
This was for a long-haul flight (in the half price avios sale), no 241.
So anyone who’s having trouble calling BA to use their FTV, just wait and maybe you’ll get it refunded too
Interesting … £500 seems quite like a generous sum to be paying out unnecessarily.
However, let’s assume it takes 20 minutes for a telephone agent to process a booking. Given an overall cost inc training etc of £20 per hour for a phone agent, that’s a £7 cost to handle your revised booking. BA seems happy to lose £500 of liquidity to save £7, which implies they are not too concerned about cash.

Not far off. Was recently working on a contact centre outsource and I would say the market rate for a UK based contact centre agent is approx. £25 per hour (ex VAT) fully loaded. That included approx. £1.70 per hour profit.
I had two vouchers refunded recently, from bookings cancelled last year. I cancelled a flight this week that I no longer need and was surprised to find I was being issued with an FTV that has to be redeemed through the call centre. Why is BA issuing FTVs if it’s only going to refund them later?
