BA Holiday/flight and car hire – Is car hire excess covered?

We are going to Denver for a fly drive with BA holidays in May.
We are both members of Executive Club,but only at Blue level.
Our car rental is with Avis.
We have read of very high excess charges on car rental (£1000 to £1500)
and were obviously keen to avoid these.
We were wondering if a BA holiday package with Avis and Executive Club
covered this excess.
If not,I assume I am better taking separate insurance out in the UK.
My apologies if this is a very basic question,but unlike many people
on this forum we are not seasoned travellers!

Worth reading the terms and conditions of the rental you accepted, it’ll be all there. However, from my experience, the excess is usually zero for non-US residents in general. Europe is all about excess, USA not as much.

I checked T and C,but as you would expect not exactly 100% clear!
