Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Holidays cancellation voucher

  • 1,146 posts

    Can somebody help me understand how the BA holidays voucher works?

    On the web it says that you can cancel anytime (before Aug 2022 I believe) and get a voucher to spend on other holidays.

    So say I put a deposit of £150 in two distinct holidays of £1,000 each and decide to cancel one of them.

    Do I get a £150 voucher or I need to pay the full £1,000 and then I get a voucher for that amount?

    Can I then use the voucher to pay the £850 balance remaining on the other holiday or I need to use it for a new one?

    Thanks

    You get voucher for whatever you paid – don’t have to pay in full.

    However, you can’t use the voucher for the other booking! You can only use it on new holiday bookings (i.e. those booked after the voucher was issued). It’s all in the FAQs/T&Cs on the BA website.

    I’ve had the value of numerous vouchers from cancelled BA holidays applied to existing bookings as have many others on HFP. When you get the email containing the evoucher you just need to reply to the email and state the booking reference that you would like it applied to.

    +1 – some people have had initial refusal but then tried again and been successful. Also I think your trip has to be before the end of August, not the cancellation.

    The voucher email specifically states “you now have £xxx to use towards a future booking” and that travel must be completed by 30th September 2023 although I too have read anecdotal evidence that on occasions BA have been prepared to apply the sum to existing bookings.

    Bremen certainly followed the “voucher must be dated before the booking” rule when I tried to apply a newer dares voucher to an older ex AMS holiday booking.

    Thank you all. Mix set of experiences here. I suppose that “towards a future booking” is not the most precise of languages. If I cancel Trip A (to take place before August 2022) and try to apply the voucher to Trip B (to take place in October 2022) that feels like a “future booking” to me 🙂

    Same experience, tried twice. Had no luck with UK call center agents either. You can’t really argue against the published T&C’s. I suppose it’s to prevent speculative bookings.

    @yonasl
    agree it’s confusing and I didn’t realize until they refused on the phone and explained it to me.

    “Future booking “ = one not yet made.

    Once you’ve made a booking you have a future trip.
