Getting another IT glitch with BA Holidays.
Just clicked through the current £25 deposit offer (for a flight + car hire) on the BA Holidays page and entered credit card details etc as usual.
Went to next page and was mortified to see I’ve now been billed the entire £1,000 cost rather than just the deposit.
There was no option to pay a deposit, so I’d figured it was on next page.
Running another dummy booking got exactly the same result – nowhere to select a deposit.
Flight + car bookings are supposedly not eligible for the <24 hour cancellation – but I don’t want £1,000 sat on a credit card for 9 months.
Is anyone else seeing similar problems with BA Holidays website?
Have you tried using the “customise trip” tool? This sometimes works better than the “flght +” options on the home page.
Or try a different browser/device.
I’ve booked a fair few BA hols and not had this issue before (other than booking a close to travel date trip when full payment is due)
After selecting the flight / car etc you get 3 choices – pay the deposit, pay the full amount and pay other amount (i.e. somewhere between the two)
I’ve just done a random dummy booking for Berlin in November and got the above 3 choices.
Where was the destination? Is it possible full payment is required at some places?
Only holiday bookings made by phone are subject to the 24 hour cooling off period.
Our last ‘holiday’ did this, just charged the whole amount. It wasn’t booked specifically through the ‘BA holiday’ page, as that wouldn’t bring up the correct flight options, but through ‘book a flight’ then added car next. I suppose I could have phoned and got them to process it on the BA end and just pay the deposit, but we were certain we were going and cash flow wasn’t an issue, and it’s BA isn’t it, so something’s got to be pointlessly difficult. Mentioned this on these very pages, and was warned by many that we wouldn’t receive double tier points, but as many others opined, and we had experienced before, we did indeed receive the tier points bonus.
Had exactly the same last week, the only way to book online required full payment. On the phone they happily took deposit only.
Thanks for the replies.
It was Geneva, clicked into via “£25 deposit on holidays” link on BA Holidays website then selected flight + car.
Got to final page and it didn’t give the 3 options of deposit etc. Tried 3 different browsers afterwards and same result!
Wonder if it’s a route-specific thing, although it’s for the August BH weekend so maybe high volume..?
