Oh the possibility of collecting Avios and getting reward seats on U2!!
In takeovers the companies normally gravitate to the lowest common denominator – looks like EasyJet will get dragged down!!
Would be awesome if EJ started offering RFS from MAN and LPL 🤣

We got Aer Lingus and the long haul routes this decade. Stop being greedy. You will endure T3 and you will eat your dry bacon bap in the Escape lounge.
I hope for Easyjet’s sake and for maintaining competition in all European markets incl. the UK, that Easyjet escapes this.
But the dry bacon bap can be washed down with the sparkling wine on draught (white or rose)! Who needs the CCR or Cathay First lounge?
IAG would have to give up a chunk of slots at Gatwick which Wizzair would likely use to create a serious competitor or Jet2 would snap up to start a base there. London-Scotland would be a particular concern so at least some would likely be destination restricted like the BMI remedy slots, so we could see W9 flights on those routes or an expansion of Ryanair who have just resumed Edinburgh from Stansted
Otherwise there isn’t actually that much crossover, maybe a bit in Paris, Easyjet isn’t massive in Vuelings main markets, so it makes a lot of sense. The holidays operation could merge with BA at least from a back office standpoint

+1
this would be terrible for travellers if it happened, and — if there was a large hand-back of slots by Easy — bad for UK aviation as an industry too… I can’t see a home-grown company taking them all.

There desperately needs to be competition on the LHR-EDI domestic route.
Looking to travel Oxford to Scotland over one of the next three weekends, between rail strikes, BA Domestic fares, XC price gouging, Avanti price gouging, there’s really no option but to drive it.
How about train to Birmingham airport and flying from there? check Trainsplit for tickets too, can be beneficial on XC routes

XC are still operating a Covid timetable with just one service an hour. The last Sunday service departs at 21:14 with the inbound Easyjet arriving at 21:10.
Looking forward to flying VS-operated services through U2 Worldwide and earning Avios on that… 😉

8am draft rosé…the modern-day equivalent of Yates’ Wine Lodge!!

I was on that same train a week ago. Halfway into the trip, an announcement said “this train will no longer stop at the airport”. Lucky my flight was delayed by two hours, and I was travelling HBO!
