Hey,
How long does it take BA to correctly give the amount of Tier Points once I raise a dispute?
I’m 5 tier points off from reaching Silver and I’ve noticed on my outbound flight they only have me 5 tier points when I should have got 10. On me inbound flight it’s showing correctly (10 tier points earned).
I can’t help but feel like they’ve done this on purpose so I don’t hit Silver. I’ve got a flight next week and purposely booked economy as knew I’d hit Silver for that flight and have access to the business lounge. But looks like I now won’t be able to because they’ve not given the correct tier points I should have got.
What are my options?
Thanks in advance.
Short Haul economy flights get you 5 or 10 TPs depending of the tariff. You could be flying on a mix of tariffs without being aware of it.
Check the tariff letter on your confirmation email to make sure you did not book the cheapest one.
Are you sure it should have got 10TPs? More likely is that it was a 5TP flight.
BA would not be targeting you to ensure you don’t get silver.
Five points sounds correct for some economy shorthaul flights.
I’ve just booked 4 domestics in the BA sale, the choice was £80 return in Q, O, or G earning 125 Avios and 5 TP each way, or £147 return in R/I and earning 750 Avios and 40TP each way (along with lounge access).
Given that £147 is an exceptionally good price for an economy ticket at the best times these days, it was a no brainer.
Pull your eticket from the finnair website
check the fare code for your outbound flight and validate if it should earn 5 or 10 TPs. Likely it was 5.
But surely if the tickets was bought at the same time then the same tariff is used? Or am I wrong in assuming that?

You have assumed incorrectly.
Best to check it as you go along.
When you are selecting the flights, click on “flight details” in blue capital letters during the booking.
See this example from BA website at flight/fare selection stage:

At the end (after their “You are leaving from Gatwick and returning to Heathrow” message), you can click on “Flight details” again, where it again informs you of the fare bucket.
In this case, O outbound, V inbound, so the fare buckets remain different
The TP earnings below:

AMS Amsterdam, Netherlands LHR London, United Kingdom BA Y / V 10 250 0 250 230 0.129 00:58
O is indicated as earning 5TP
V is indicated as earning 10TP
Hey,
I can’t help but feel like they’ve done this on purpose so I don’t hit Silver.
They have absolutely not done this on purpose.
As others have said this is more likely down to each flight being in a different fare bucket than any sort of conspiracy to deny you silver.
I booked a trip at the weekend and the fare bucket is different on each leg. Luckily for me it’s the same number of avios / TPs but with some they can be different.
One of the first things I do after booking any trip is to go to the QANTAS MMB page to get the info on fare buckets for each segment then use the avios/TP calculator to get the avios/TP numbers I should expect.

Where are you flying to and from where at these prices?

Heathrow to Edinburgh
There’s only a few days left of the BA sale, so the lowest tickets seem to be gone, but there’s still £170 weekend returns in Business.
Fri 19th January, BA1446, 16:05 LHR to EDI
Mon 22nd January, BA1447, 17:50 EDI to LHR
£168
First weekend in July there’s a First return to Glasgow for £163. Bit further and there’s central European trips for £165 in Business.
The sale ended at midnight.
