Does anyone have the correct international telephone number for the British Airways ticket office in Japan please? I need to call to use a 241 voucher at 1am BST 355 days out to try to book a unicorn flight.
I have tried googling this as suggested in Rob’s article and get a selection of numbers; but none ring when I try them.
I already have the USA ticket office number. However, last time I tried them the booking agent was useless. He wasted so much time trying to tell me to wait until the UK office opened and call them instead that it was quicker to book online instead. I was very lucky to get my unicorn tickets that time, but then had to cancel them due to getting a serious illness. I’m not sure I will be so lucky this time around so would like to try the Japan ticket office instead.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Contact details in the app for Japan are
Tel: 03-3298-5209
Monday – Friday
09:00 – 12:00
13:00 – 17:00Is the Japan number actually better than booking online though?? The line opens at midnight GMT, so once you’ve got through all the menus and verified your account with an agent, someone online will already have grabbed the tickets you want, no?
Although I have successfully booked tickets using that number, but that was when the BA website was down for maintenance and was a move of desperation after falling to get through on the USA number. I doubt I’d have got the tickets if the website was working that night. Not sure the Japan number a wise plan A over the USA number with the backup of fastest finger first on the website.
Thank-you for your help.
Last time I tried to book a 241 on a unicorn route I tried calling the USA number unsuccessfully. This time we got to 1am BST and he announced his shift was ending and I’d have to speak to someone else then cut me off. Looking at other forums this is not an uncommon occurrence. Hence why I thought I would try Japan. I’ve seen others mention success using India and Australia too.
I did get my tickets last time via fastest finger first but last night I wasn’t quick enough. So will keep trying.

I always use the USA number, but have website up and ready to go just in case. On my last call, the agent suggested having travelling companion phone too to increase odds of getting through successfully.
By way of an update.
The Japan number did not work because they do not open until 9am, which is 1am BST. So I got a this office is closed message. Unless they start opening earlier, I doing think this will prove a good route for anyone.
I tried the Australian number, which should have been open at that time, and got a this office isn’t taking calls right now message.
By which time, I had been very lucky and secured my flights online.
I am thinking I will be better to look West for my return leg tickets. I checked out the Canada numbers (as the USA has been unhelpful to me and others in the past) and it has a US country code so I don’t think it will be much use. USA it is.
In case useful, I signed up to a Viber Worldwide plan for cheap calls at £5.99 monthly, cancel any time. I’ve used them before and it worked well.

I don’t know anything about a BA Canada number, as I always phone the USA number, but be aware that +1 is the dialling code used for Canada as well (as +1 is for the North American Numbering Plan rather than specifically the USA)

Without wanted to sound smug, I did tell you exactly this and advised it’s not a useful option in normal circumstances 🫣 I’m glad you got your tickets 👍

It would be worth you reading the thread here – https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/booking-return-leg-with-companion-voucher/page/70/#post-791562
The Australian number is only active Monday to Friday so that’s why it didn’t work. Depending on which day you need to call for your return flight, it may be a viable option.
Also I think you maybe slightly misguided in your quest for a better option than the US line. I think experience shows that it is very much luck of the draw who you get through to in terms of whether they are helpful or not and my understanding is regardless which international line you call, you will ultimately connect to one of BA’s international call centres (I believe there are two – one in UK and one in India). If you get through early enough, then if the person is not understanding your needs, it may be worth simply hanging up and calling again. There is an issue with the US numbers also though that they shut at 1am BST and I believe you are auto-cut off with an office closed message if not through to an agent by 0055 BST. As such, if Australian line is open on the day you need to book, it is probably a better option to avoid this.
