Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA LHR to Grand Cayman flight

We’re looking to use an Amex Companion voucher for the above break.

When searching for a direct flight, it shows an hour “stopover” in Nasssu. Does anyone know how this works in practice? Any danger of missing the Nassau > Grand Cayman connection part, or is it just a fuel stop / similar?

    You stay on the plane.

I do this flight most years – the plane lands at NAS to let off the majority of the passengers, who are actually travelling to the Bahamas, not GCM. If you’re not ending your journey there, you have to stay on the plane.

They do a bit of a clean and a crew change, and after about an hour you depart for the 90-minute or so hop to GCM. It makes for a very long journey! Be aware you won’t get much in the way of service on the 2nd leg, just a drink and a packet of nuts so you may well be hungry on arrival at GCM.

Only if you get off when you shouldn’t! 😃

You do get a full meal service LHR – NAS, it escaped brunchgate.

Thanks all, I was hoping for those answers !

I stumbled across one of your forum replies re the Seafire, so hoepfully all will fall into place in a couple of months.

When are you travelling? There’s some seriously weird points pricing at that place from around December 10th, we are wondering what it all means over on FT …

Yes I saw that, redemptions all low until a few days of madness in Dec ’25. We were going to pencil in Feb ’26 assuming the rates settle down again.

The new Indigo is very, very nice and seems to have settled back down to 50k pn on most dates. Seafire gets very busy with families and their nannies.

We have 3 nights at the Seafire in March, though I will have lost Diamond by then. Will probably go out for breakfast rather than paying $100 for 2!

Yes saw the Indigo, that’s good to know if the Seafire doesn’t work out. 2025 stays will get me Diamond for 2026, would a suite upgrade voucher be a good option for the SF do you think ?

I had a suite upgrade voucher and 5 nights booked at both hotels speculatively in June (so fairly low season). When I called, I asked to apply it to the Seafire first and they said there were no suites available and I would have to “negotiate” with the hotel to see what upgrade they would offer. I couldn’t be bothered doing this, so I just asked for it to be applied to the Indigo, and we ended up in a beautiful, 1-bedroom penthouse suite. (This proved useful as we were confined to it for 24 hours when a hurricane passed through!)

In February, I would imagine the Seafire is even more likely to be sold out, so you may want to think about your options. I posted some pics of the suite at the Indigo on the FT thread if you want to have a look at it.

I liked the pool area at the Indigo better than the Seafire, it felt less cramped. I think the main advantages of the Seafire are the beachfront location and the size and facilities of the standard rooms.
