Hi all,
I flew back from SFO to LHR this week in WTP and was surprised to find that passengers were not (really) offered a choice for either meal service.
When pushed, the cabin crew would respond with “If you are vegetarian, we also have xxx. Are you vegetarian?”. As I say, this was for both meal services.
The message seemingly being that unless you’re a card-carrying vegetarian, you get what you’re given!
I wondered if this is a recent policy change to reduce costs? Has anyone else noticed this deterioration in service?
Have to say this was in stark contrast to my flight out with Virgin, which was far superior in terms of onboard service (and that was just in economy!).
D
Is it possible you were amongst the last to be served, and they had run out of one of the options?
No, They started serving in my row, at front of WTP.
This is more likely just a catering hic up with the meal numbers / loading screwed up and not a sign of anything much more than that.

Not sure with WTP, but in business they typically gather the orders and prioritise status for choices. So where they start to serve and who got first choice are not the same thing. But the way BA are at the moment it was probably about what was loaded.
You had 3 options, take it, leave it and Veggie.
Yes, I wondered/hoped that this might have been due to some sort of problem with the catering order for this particular flight, but I was interested to know if others had experienced this lately – which might indicate otherwise.

I think BA had leaked that last week there was to be a catering announcement. I assume this was about returning CW to better service, rather than the all on one tray. The announcement never happened, and nothing since in regard of when it might happen. Who knows, I have no inside knowledge, but I’m not sure there’s any evidence of BA solving any problems, returning to any previous level of service, and suspicion is announcement never happened because they knew they didn’t have any hope of matching reality to what they say happens.
Loads are seemingly maxed out at the moment, prices are high, and with no additional capacity at Heathrow or within the airline they have little incentive to improve anything.
