Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios BA not adhering to terms on upgrade voucher use

    Hello

Novice here but I’ve read up on several posts about using my cabin upgrade vouchers and severely struggling with BA.

I have 2x cabin upgrade vouchers to use in my account. I am wishing to travel Business (Club World).

I input my route (starting in UK), and select the two Business class flights I wish; I am then faced with problem no.1:

1 – The BA website will not allow me to select both of my cabin upgrade vouchers to proceed with my booking.

I have since called BA to assist with making the booking, but I am repeatedly told they will not permit me making said booking as there is no availability in Premium. And even if there was, I am unable to use 2 vouchers in one booking.

2 – BA say there must be availability in the class below AS WELL AS the class I want to upgrade to.

I have thrown their own T&C’s at them (namely no.14 and no.18) which both state that there only needs to be availability in the upgraded class, and that one CAN use up to 2 vouchers in one booking – but I am getting nowhere. Call centre support (& their supervisors) will not allow the booking to be made.

Any help would be gratefully received!!

    Thank you

regarding point (1) – this would depend on how many people you have selected. If you’re a solo-traveller (an an example) then you wouldnt need to use both vouchers.

regarding point (2) – that’s nonsense, you don’t need availability in the lower cabin, they just use the avios requirement for that cabin. Have you tried ringing at a different time? perhaps you are speaking to overseas numpties

You aren’t trying to do a double upgrade for yourself are you?

Whilst the T&Cs say you can use 2 on the same booking I’d imagine BA meant the ability to use it for two people on the same booking not as a double upgrade for 1.

Notwithstanding the above I used two vouchers last week for the maximum one level upgrade. Go through the book and upgrade, when you’ve selected the first voucher press the x to close the window. When the window opens again the first should be ticked and you should be able to select the second. There is a definite glitch somewhere with the website.

    Thanks all for your comments.

I am trying to book for 2 persons, using both (2) vouchers to upgrade both outbound and inbound legs.

I have tried calling again a few hours apart, sadly the same response – which is mind boggling!

    @strickers
    – I will try your suggestion and let you know.

So frustrating from BA, but I’m glad I am correct in my thinking so thank you all for corroborating!
