I am travelling to Lax in September.
I have read that the T5 B-satellite lounge is much quieter then the main north and south (never been in either).
Would anyone be so kind to tell me if this is the case?
Also most flights seem to go from C gates for LAX. If it were to be C gates, is it simple enough to get to the C gate?
Thanks

Typically the lounge at the B gates is much quieter and nicer yes.
To get from the B gates to the C gates you either take the shuttle on level -2, or you can walk through the tunnel on level -4.
The only important thing to remember is for any reason you choose to go back from C to B, or B to A you MUST walk through the tunnel on level -4, the shuttle puts you in the arrivals stream and that will lead to a lot of problems, and unless you have hours you’ll miss the flight.
Hi @dougzz99, never walked the foot tunnel, how long can it take? (waiting for the shuttle can be 10 min sometimes)
Good article with all the information here …

Takes a few minutes between each terminal at a brisk walk, a few more if you want or need to go a little slower. Much more pleasant than the shuttle train in my opinion.
It is also excellent if you have kids as it is generally very quiet and for some reason if you show my kids a tunnel they run. And if you’re going to stick kids on a plane it is best to exercise them a bit first.
Thanks guys. Can anyone confirm how the food/drinks are in the smaller lounge? is it the same offerings as the north and south lounge? thanks
Here at the moment. Absolutely dead. No hot food buffet being served (to you) like at A gates, but they’ve got “order hot food at the QR code on your table” on the go 👍🏻
If you want to look at which lounges are busy at Heathrow just bookmark this….

Brilliant, thanks @ Roberto
Never knew that before, and more than justifies my HfP subscription fee for another year at least !
The lounge at B Gates can often be a bit quieter, but isn’t always so. This year has been the busiest I’ve seen it. If my flight is going from B Gates (you can ask at the desk well before it will display on the board), I will typically decamp from 5A and have a relaxed walk to 5B and wait in the lounge until boarding. But I don’t think it’s worth going to B Gates just on the merits of the lounge, unless you fancy learning the layout of T5 and how to get around and travel between terminals. If you do the latter, then do study the location of the elevators you need to take, IIRC not all will take you down from departure level to walkway level (-4).

Very useful thanks Roberto!
There was a very useful site which listed the frequency each T5 gate was used when searching by flight number … but i’ve lost the link!
Does anyone have it saved?
Never mind – I found it! Great site:

this is why it’s a good idea to walk from 5A to 5B as you come out of the same lift you need to go back down to -4.
As others advised, best to walk level -4 both ways and be familiar with the directions, lift location, escalators etc. It takes me less than 5 min to walk the tunnel from A to B gates. If you have plenty of time, worth going to the B lounge event if your flight departs from A. I value space, peace and quiet – none available at the A lounges that more often resemble a zoo.
No point talking to the BA help desk at the main terminal, they actively discourage walking between the terminals. I am not sure if that’s because people fail to get back to A gates on time or BA wants to keep the B lounge quiet.Yesterday I was in Galleries North briefly to grab a decent cup of tea between flights (the tea in CE is dreadful), as I was going in there was a staff member asking if anyone was departing from B concourse and advising them to go there if so (though I don’t know how you know that for definite until your gate is called?)
Both last Friday and yesterday the lounge was an absolute zoo, and we’re now into low season so I don’t see how it’s going to be sustainable going forward. Hopefully I’ll be gold by the end of the month and have a few more options!

It’s a really great site. It used to give lowest BA flight price data but then BA stopped providing the data feeds 🙁

Coffee too. You need to fly First to get anything approaching something drinkable.

Ask the lounge dragon, their monitor usually has the expected gate.
@davefl, I know, but the woman was asking people in the lounge queue if they knew – which they didn’t because they hadn’t got to the front of the queue to ask!
Anyway, I went in and made a cup of Earl Grey to my liking. Agree about the coffee as well but the tea always tastes as though it’s been steeped for about a week!

Flightaware is useful (not sure if it works for LHR, it doesnt for Doha) but I can see my flight tomorrow from Man always goes from A6 or A12 (with an occasional excursion from A10).
